COUNTERCRAFT / INDEPENDENT LEARNING REVIEW
A question asked clearly. A decision explained. A skill carried into a new setting. Look closely at the learning inside service work.
FOR THE CURIOUS SERVICE WORKER
Original fictional exercises, public Starbucks role and development context, and room to distinguish learning from authorization. No employee testimonials, private systems or invented qualifications.
THE PRACTICE BENCH
Nine original combinations, with an optional change in information. No score and no personal input.
ORIGINAL / FICTIONAL PRACTICE
Combine a skill with an invented community-event scenario. Add changed information to inspect what your response would need to reconsider. No real workplace data or personal information is requested.
Fictional scenario: a community event needs blank cards and empty display stands. The request asks for “a few cards soon” without confirming quantity or deadline. Practice restating what is known and asking one focused question about a missing detail. A useful response does not invent the quantity or time.
Variation: the stands will arrive later than expected, and the card quantity is still unconfirmed. What changes in your question? What decision belongs to the organizer? For an organizing exercise, separate confirmed details, dependencies and unresolved questions. For an explaining exercise, distinguish a request from a confirmed arrangement using another invented example.
This is an original teaching prompt, not a score, employer training or authorization to change work. Use only invented materials. Real customers, staff records, internal documents and operational procedures do not belong in the exercise.
